Reading Recognition

I read a variety of books to my son throughout the week, but at bedtime I always read three books. Two are the same every night, and I choose something different each night for the third book. The two books that I always read at bedtime are Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown and The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton. I can tell that my son recognizes these books because now when I show them to him or start reading them he gets very excited and starts trying to jump in my lap. There is one part in The Going to Bed Book where the animals on the boat are exercising. For some reason, my son loves that part. Who knew an almost 10 month old would have a favorite part of a book? He is so familiar with the book that when I am reading the page before the exercising part, he is already getting excited because he knows what’s ahead. I hope that I am instilling in him a love for reading.

Aw our baby is under 5 months and has a favourite page of a book. It’s amazing that they have preferences so early in life. Wish I could read his mind to find out why!
