I have been back at school for two weeks now, and it is still difficult to leave my son every morning. My students continue to ask about him, and I have shown them a few pictures. They think he is so cute.

I wish I could afford to stay home, especially once my son starts school in about five years. I would really love to homeschool him. Being a teacher, I deal with a lot of bad behavior each day. Also, I feel the education in the local public schools is not great. It’s not that the teachers are necessarily bad, but with all the demands teachers have placed on them and what we are told we have to do, there is no room to be creative and focus more on learning than grades. We also spend so much time assessing that there’s not much time to do real in depth teaching. I want my son to get a good education. Plus, if I homeschool him, he can work at his own pace and have the time to actually master the material.

It’s really tough, but it does get easier. I am two weeks back at work myself (for the second time) so I know kind of how you feel. I wish society was structured differently so we didn’t have to choose between our children and our careers, but I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Hang in there.
